PREVENT HACKING
Effective Ways To Stop Hackers: So, what can you do to protect your tiny machine from hacker tricks? Fortunately, there are some measures that we can take, and it doesn't require us to be a Neo or Hugh Jackman's character from the movie "Swordfish".
These hacker protection tips are simple and effective and will defend you from most of the attacks.
OS Updates: The first thing to do in computer hacking prevention is to assure yourself that all your software is up to date; especially your operating system and your web browser. Why? Because they are the two things that hackers will try to attack first if they want to get into your computer
Firewalling: The second thing that you need to do is to install a firewall. As a matter of fact internet firewall hacker protection has become so necessary that Microsoft now ships it for free as part of their Windows XP operating system. It took them some years to admit it, but the truth is that their software was an easy target for the hackers and crackers that lurked through the World Wide Web. In case you don't want to use Windows XP firewall, there are many alternatives in the market. Companies like Symantec and Zone Labs have produced software firewalls for some time and have become a necessity for all the computers of corporate America. If you don't know which one you want to buy, use the trial periods. Usually you can use the firewall for 15 to 30 days; that amount of time is more than enough to make your decision. The next step in security is to have an antivirus installed. There are free versions like AVG antivirus, or pay per year licenses, like Norton Antivirus (also from Symantec). As in the case of firewalls, there are many varieties available in the market; use the trial periods for choosing wisely.
Anti Spyware/Adware: Finally, there is the anti-spyware program. As if viruses were not enough, companies from around the world decided to create programs that could pick up data from your computer in order to acquire information for their databases. It may not be as dangerous as a virus, but it is an intrusion to your privacy. Wipe them out with this piece of software.Nowadays hacker prevention has become a task for all of us. No longer is it the responsibility of the system administrator of our company. After all, he can install all the security of the world in the company's network, but if you let a virus in because of your carelessness, he won't be able to stop it. The same goes for your computer at home. You are the only one responsible for it. Remember that new hacker tricks appear as each day goes by, so you need to be prepared.

DELAY MENU
Menu Delays:
Another minor and easy tweak to remove any delay from menus sliding out. For this you will need to use regedit (open regedit by going to Start -> Run..., then typing 'regedit' and pressing enter). The key you need to change is located in HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop. The actual key is called MenuShowDelay - all you have to do is change the value to 0. Remember, you will have to re-boot your computer for this tweak to take effect.

PASSWORD RECOERY
This method can be used 2 change the password of an xp pc without knowing the current password...follow the steps
Start >> Run >> [type]cmd // this will open your command prompt
[type] net(space)user(press enter)
[type] net(space)user(space)[windowsloginid](space)*(press enter)
// for e.g. : net user HOME *(press enter)
[type] new password (press enter) and retype it (press enter).. it will show u confirmation... // caution it wont show u the password u type.. but it still types.. the blinking pointer will b there at the same place.. but it still works..
// for e.g. : password changed successfully

INCREASE WINDOWS SPEED
Increase your Internet Speed..
Try this , if you have windows XP professional
this is for broad band connections/dial up running Windows XP.
1. log on as Administrator.
2. start - run - type gpedit.msc
3. expand "local computer policy"
4. then expand "administrative templates"
5. then expand "network branch"
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler"
7. on right window double click "limit reservable bandwidth"
8. on setting tab check the "enabled"
9. change "Bandwidth limit %" to 0
reboot if prompted
this is because Windows XP reserve 20% of the bandwidth for its self.

TECH :2
Host Resolution Priority Tweak host name resolution priority
===================================================================
Windows 2k/XP
First, open the Windows Registry using Regedit, and (after backing up) navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\ServiceProvider
Note the following lines (all hex dwords):
Class = 008 (8) - indicates that TCP/IP is a name service provider, don't change.
LocalPriority = 1f3 (499) - local names cache
HostsPriority = 1f4 (500) - the HOSTS file
DnsPriority = 7d0 (2000) - DNS
NetbtPriority = 7d1 (2001) - NetBT name-resolution, including WINS
What we're aiming to do is increase the priority of the last 4 settings, while keeping their order. The valid range is from -32768 to +32767 and lower numbers mean higher priority compared to other services. What we're aiming at is lower numbers without going to extremes, something like what's shown below should work well:
Change the "Priority" lines to:
LocalPriority = 005 (5) - local names cache
HostsPriority = 006 (6) - the HOSTS file
DnsPriority = 007 (7) - DNS
NetbtPriority = 008 (8) - NetBT name-resolution, including WINS

OPEN COMMAND PROMPT
I began computing in the days of DOS, and I still can't give up the command prompt. When it comes to doing down-and-dirty tasks like mass deleting or renaming of files, nothing beats it. I find myself frequently switching back and forth between Windows Explorer and the command prompt.
Often, when using Windows Explorer, I want to open the command prompt at the folder that's my current location. That takes too many steps: opening a command prompt and then navigating to my current folder. However, there's a quicker way: you can add an option to the right-click context menu that will open a command prompt at your current folder. For example, if you were to right-click the C:\My Stuff folder, you could then choose to open a command prompt at C:\My Stuff.
To add the option, run the Registry Editor, then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Classes/Folder/Shell. Create a new key called Command Prompt. For the default value, enter whatever text you want to appear when you right-click a folderfor example, Open Command Prompt. Create a new key beneath the Command Prompt key called Command. Set the default value to Cmd.exe /k pushd %L. That value will launch Cmd.exe, which is the XP command prompt. The /k switch puts the prompt into interactive mode. That is, it lets you issue commands from the command prompt; the command prompt isn't being used to issue only a single command and then exit. The pushd command stores the name of the current directory, and %L uses that name to start the command prompt at it. Exit the Registry. The new menu option will show up immediately. Note that it won't appear when you right-click a file; it shows up only when you right-click a folder.
While many of us like fussing around with the Registry rather than doing things the easy way, there's also a way to add this option to your right-click context menu without editing the Registry. Download and install a free copy of Microsoft's Open Command Window Here PowerToy from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp.

WINDOW TRICK
System Tips
Use the 'wild card' (*) in system searches. It's possible to find all pictures by using *.jpg, for instance. To list virtually every graphic on your hard drive, try *.jpg; *.png; *.gif; *.bmp. Multiple searches are possible using a semicolon followed by a space, then the next item. This works foe other file types, too, like *.doc or *.txt.
The use of shortcut keys instead of mouse clicks is much more efficient. Re-training oneself to do so is a bit more challenging. Most folks know that pressing the CTRL key plus x cuts and item, CTRL+ c copies and CTRL+ v pastes, but don't forget to 'unload' the clipboard after copying a large graphic or hitting 'Print Screen.' Just copy something small, like a word of text, to replace that large load. Otherwise it ties up precious memory.
Here are some more to try:
CTRL+ A: Highlights all text in document
CTRL+ close window closes all windows
Windows: Display the Start menu
Windows + D: Minimize or restore all windows
Windows + E: Display Windows Explorer
Windows + F: Display Search for files
Windows + Ctrl + F: Display Search for computer
Windows + F1: Display Help and Support Center
Windows + R: Display Run dialog box
Windows + break: Display System Properties dialog box
Windows + shift + M: Undo minimize all windows
Windows + tab: move through taskbar buttons
Windows + U: Open Utility Manager
CTRL+ Z is an unlimited UNDO
In rich text environments like Outlook Express or Microsoft Word, SHIFT will traditionally 'select' and CTRL will 'move.' CTRL+ BACKSPACE will delete entire words at a time; CTRL+ HOME will take you to the top of the document; CTRL+ SHIFT + HOME will select all data between your cursor and the top of your document (END will take you to the end); CTRL+ LEFT CURSOR will move you one word back (and RIGHT will move you right); SHIFT+ HOME will select all text in that paragraph or line.

LAMER TRICK
This is a neat trick you can play on that lamer that has a huge ego, in this section I teach you, how to disable the Shut Down option in the Shut Down Dialog Box. This trick involves editing the registry, so please make backups. Launch regedit.exe and go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
In the right pane look for the NoClose Key. If it is not already there then create it by right clicking in the right pane and selecting New > String Value.(Name it NoCloseKey ) Now once you see the NoCloseKey in the right pane, right click on it and select Modify. Then Type 1 in the Value Data Box.
Doing the above on a Win98 system disables the Shut Down option in the Shut Down Dialog Box. But on a Win95 machine if the value of NoCloseKey is set to 1 then click on the Start > Shut Down button displays the following error message:
This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.
You can enable the shut down option by changing the value of NoCloseKey to 0 or simply deleting the particular entry i.e. deleting NoCloseKey.
Instead of performing the above difficult to remember process, simply save the following with an extension of .reg and add it's contents to the registry by double clicking on it.

PASSWORD CRACK
Administrator password can be broken by replacing sam file in system32\config by the sam file in repair folder of windows.
it can be easily done on a machine with dual operating systems, simply log on to os other then the one whoes password is to be cracked
the way is exactly same as written above
but if there is a single os on a machine then there is only one way i.e to use ms dos start up disk or some other boot disk and replace the sam file in config folder with the one in repair folder
note:- this method works only if hard drive is FAT32 formatted because NTFS drive does'nt take boot from Ms DOS
This way you can remove the old administratOr password as if the windows is newly installed and the password was'nt set
Other Way:You can download John the Ripper. That should work.
Or as told by many of ma friends: Creating local recovery password disk....

CRACK WEBPAGE
There is many different methods of hacking users web pages on a server. I will attempt to list as many ways possible but don't expect very much in depth information.
Getting Passwords
Okay suppose you found a page you want to hack, that is on someone else's server that's a basic server, light security. Okay very light security. I will be truthful. This pretty much works on servers with no security.
Getting a password file is pretty easy. Simply telnet into the servers FTP anonymously and look in the ETC directory and get the file called Passwd. Another way to get them is to find your target and in
a WWW browser type cgi-bin/phf?Qalias=x%0a/bin/cat%20/etc/passwd after
the servers name.
For example the name may be http://www.hackme.com/,
you would goto
http://www.hackme.com/cgi-bin/phf?Qalias=x%0a/bin/cat%20/etc/passwd except instead of http://www.hackme.com/
you would replace that with your targets URL. You may get a passwd file that has no user accounds, but only defaults which where the encrypted password should be a * would be in its place. On certain servers with this you may have a shadowed passwd but on all passwd files i have come across there is some user names like FTP and NEWS that have no encrypted passwords which is replaced with *.
If you find only this and no encrypted passwds you probably have found a fixed passwd file and you must try another method of hacking the server.
You need to examine this file and look for a line in the text that looks like this:
rrc:uXDg04UkZgWOQ:201:4:Richard Clark:/export/home/rrc:/bin/kshdoes not need to look exactly like that, the only important part it needs it the uXDg04UkZgWOQ and rcc, which is the login part. Get a program called John the Ripper which can be found on any hacking site on the web. If you are to lazy, or stupid to find one on the web here is a good place to go for newbieshttp://www.hackersclub.com/km/
I will not go in depth right here on passwd files, but i have written a text on passwd's going good into the subject which can be found at
http://www.xtalwind.net/~lmclaulin/ugpasswd.txt.
Anyway, using John the Ripper is easy, if you want to quickly hack something give the command (in DOS prompt) "john passwd -single" Replace "passwd" in there with the name of the passwd file, you may have saved it as passwd.txt or something. An important thing to remember is that the passwd file needs to be in the same directory as John.
To see a list of other methods for cracking a passwd file, just type John and it will give you a list of commands. I have found john won't work for me with wordlists but other people say that it works fine for them. You can use incremental mode (to use that the command is "John passwd -incremental" It takes like a few days to finish so I wouldn't really want it to let it go on forever and ever if it was just some normal passwd file. Unless its like NASA's passwd file (keep dreaming, they probably change passwords everyday and that file is very outdated)
I wouldn't want to use that too much. To see a complete list of John's cracking capabilities, just type john and it will give you a list of commands that you may use.

This can pose as the installation program for a game. This means that
when you upload it to a BBS or something, and post that it is a
kickass game, people will download it and try to install it on their
computers!
What does it do?
This program changes directory to the root and makes 100000 dirs in
the root. You cannot use deltree to wipe them out in one chunk and
you CANNOT get rid of them without doing reverse engineering on the
program, ie. rd instead of md. To get rid of them any other way you
would have to format c: or d:

why Google returned search results with registration
Ever wondered why Google returned search results that lead to sites that require a registration? How did Google index the site without a registration? Many sites want their site indexed in Google to receive more hits, so they allow Googlebots in. Because of this reason we can take advantage of this. All we have to do is disguise ourself as a Googlebot and many sites will let us in without registration.
To do this we have to change the User Agent. The user agent defines the browser and what version you are using. For example if you go to this site it will tell you what browser you are using, and it finds this info out by the user agent.
Changing the user agent is easy, to do this in Opera you have to uses these settings:
User Agent: Googlebot/2.1 Compatible: http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html
Firefox users can use this extension and import this file (right click and save) that has a huge list of user agent settings including Googlebot/2.1 and many other spiders/bots.
Internet Explorer users you will need to change the registry entries, to do this open notepad and copy this into it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent] @="Googlebot/2.1" "Compatible"="+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html"
Then save it as ua.reg and double click on it.
To revert the changes back, you will need to do the same but this time copy this in:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent] @="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)"
Save as oua.reg and double click.
To see if it has worked go here and your browser should now be Googlebot v2.1

how to protect important data
Imagine what would you would feel like if your personal data was accessed by someone you did not like to. Well it could be sensitive company data or pictures of your girlfriend about whom your parents dont know about. Data protection is a must when there are some files on your PC which you want to keep private and for your own access only. Here's a handy tool which will help you do that - TrueCrypt. It is a very powerful tool for data encryption, and you should be using it if your the kind a guy who wouldnt want to regret any privacy invasion.
Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a real disk.
Encrypts an entire partition or storage device such as USB flash drive or hard drive.
Encrypts a partition or drive where Windows is installed (pre-boot authentication).
Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.
Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password:
1) Hidden volume (steganography – more information may be found here).
2) No TrueCrypt volume can be identified (volumes cannot be distinguished from random data

what to do with ur folder with no name?
I really dont see a reason why people would want to do this, but while surfing the net, I stumbled upon this trick with which you can actually make folders nameless. I have tried numerous times to do it entering nothing while renaming it, but it always was set back to the older name, no matter what
The trick goes like this:
1. Select the folder to be renamed
2. Press F2
3. Press ALT
4. While pressing ALT, on the numlock keypad (NOT the character keypad) enter 0160
5. Press Enter, and there you have a folder without any name
I wonder if there was actually a use of it .... Hmmmmmmm

USEFUL TRICKS &TIPS
If you download games or softwares or movies in a compressed form from the net, then you'll notice that the file extension of the downloaded file is .iso. Now, what is an .ISO file? To put it simply as Wikipedia defines it, "An ISO image is an archive file (or Disk Image) of an optical device." The extension can either be .ISO for WINDOWS or .CDR for Mac OS X.
Mounting images are the same as Emulation, whereby the functions of a system is duplicated onto another so that the second system behaves like the first system. In this case, your computer will create a virtual optical drive (CD/DVD Drive) which will run your .ISO image like a real disk, as if you had inserted a disk into your physical disk drive
